Lack of Transparency: Oscar Pardo, Candidate for Sonoma County Superior Court Judge

I have some issues pertaining to the 2022 statement of economic interest which was filed for the Democratic candidate Mr. Oscar Pardo for Sonoma County Superior Court Judge. As indicated in his online bio, he is currently the Elsie Allen High School Foundation Board Vice President. Mr. Pardo made no mention of this position within his Form 700, so I am unsure if this is a paid position.

The Elsie Allen High School Foundation has possessed a suspended Franchise Tax Board status with the California Secretary of State since 1/3/2022. Their license was suspended due to not completing required filings and not paying required taxes/fees. If your business is suspended, you cannot:
  • Legally do business
  • Sell , transfer, or exchange real property
  • File taxes with an automatic extension
  • File a claim for a tax refund
  • Start or continue a protest
  • Legally close or dissolve your business
  • Bring an action or defend your business in court
  • File or maintain an appeal before the Office of Tax Appeals
  • Maintain the right to use your business name
  • Retain tax-exempt status (it will be automatically revoked as of the suspension date)
On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved a Disbursement of Fiscal Year 21-22 Fifth District Community Investment Fund Grant 2022-0111 Awards to Elsie Allen High School Foundation for $2,500. Additionally, this organization held their annual silent auction in March, 2022. Being that this business is currently not able to legally operate as a non-profit, I am concerned as to how and to whom these taxpayer funds were disbursed.
